How to eat your Stroopwafel

PM flights - Snack on savory snack mixes
Customers on flights departing after 9:45 a.m. will be offered a package of savory snacks, like an Asian-style snack mix of rice crackers, sesame sticks and wasabi peas or a zesty-ranch mix of mini-pretzel sticks, Cajun-corn sticks and ranch soy nuts.

United Economy Upgrades
The return of complimentary snacks is among a number of upgrades United is making to elevate customers' travel experience when flying Economy. United Airlines listen closely to customer feedback, and this year made significant upgrades to United Airlines United Economy experience, including:

  • Recently expanded complimentary meals and free beer and wine on more Latin America flights
  • Free beer and wine on select flights within Asia
  • In partnership with The Trotter Project, United Airlines introduced new chef-inspired fresh-food options on United's Choice Menu Bistro on Board
Significantly upgraded food and beverage service - including multi-course meals, complimentary beer and house wine and an option to purchase premium snacks - on long-haul international flights.

United Airlines Adds Bundled Perks Packages To Economy Plus
Travelers purchasing extra legroom Economy Plus seats on United Airlines can now add on extra perks by purchasing one of the Chicago-based carrier's new bundled travel options packages.

Dubbed "Economy Plus Essentials" and "Economy Plus Enhanced," the new packages join bundled products offered by American, Delta and JetBlue and promise savings on amenities that will provide "more comfort, convenience and relaxation."

Economy Plus Essentials offers travelers Economy Plus seating plus an extra standard checked bag.

Economy Plus Enhanced includes the Economy Plus Essentials perks (Economy Plus seating and an extra standard checked bag) and adds on Premier Access (special check-in lines, access to special security lanes, plus priority boarding and baggage handling), a United Club trip pass and extra award miles (500 extra award miles for travel entirely within the 48 continental United States or 1,000 extra award miles on tickets for other travel.)

Both packages are sold by direction of travel and United claims that they offer savings of "up to 20%" on perks purchased separately in the "Essentials" package and "up to 25" savings in the "Enhanced" package.

United added the new Economy Plus bundles during the Christmas holiday week.

"After their flights, customers who sit in Economy Plus consistently report higher levels of satisfaction - including with parts of the travel experience outside of the aircraft," said airline spokesman Rahsaan Johnson. "By launching the product bundles shortly after the launch of the new united.com, we hope to make Economy Plus access easier and more attractive."

As you may imagine, there are terms, conditions and wrinkles to consider and benefit programs with overlapping perks that may make figuring out whether to purchase a package too complicated.

For example, if you are traveling on a reservation with other people, you can't purchase an Economy Plus Essentials or Enhanced package for just one person in the group. Many travelers already get some of the package benefits another way, through their Premier Member status, via a credit card, or through a United baggage, Economy Plus or United Club subscription, so purchasing an Economy Plus Essentials or Enhanced package may not offer frequent travelers good value.

But the new packages may be of interest to travelers who don't usually get access to these upgraded perks.

Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Montreal - Major Renovation In 2016
Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Montreal CANADA have announced that they will invest nearly $140 million to transform the hotel experience of Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth. This very substantial revitalization work will enable the hotel to be the premier hotel and leading destination for your business travelers, special events, meetings, and business conventions.

As you can appreciate, the important decision to close the hotel was not taken lightly. Ivanhoé Cambridge and Fairmont took the necessary time to study various scenarios, including that of keeping the hotel in operation. Management and owners chose to execute the work over as short a period of time as possible to minimize the impact on hotel operations, guests and colleagues.

The renovation of the hotel, including guestrooms, lobby, restaurants, terrace, creation of a business campus and expansion of meeting room space will start in June 2016. As a consequence, the hotel will be completely closed for 12 months. Until then, the hotel will maintain normal operations, and guests will see no change in their visitor experience. We look forward to providing you and welcoming you and your business travel clients until June 19, 2016.

A partial reopening (including the common areas and about 500 guestrooms) will take place in June 2017, in time for the celebrations marking the 375th anniversary of Montreal, the 150th anniversary of Confederation and the 50th anniversary of Expo 67. The hotel's full reopening is set for December 2017.

After its transformation, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth will offer an innovative business campus that will be among the most modern in the world. The campus will include a set of interconnected and accessible public meeting spaces where businesspeople will be able to gain from creative, collaborative and innovative experiences. The hotel's public spaces will be designed to offer the business community an inspiring location for working and meeting.
