Aeroplan Changes Effective December 15, 2015
For your information, Aeroplan is making changes to its zone and reward chart, effective December 15, 2015.

Revised mileage levels
Similar to the current one-way flight rewards departing from North America, Aeroplan will introduce one-way Fixed Mileage Flight Rewards at just 50% of the round-trip miles required for flights between international destinations. Refer to the Reclassified Travel Zones chart.

Reclassified travel zones
Certain travel zones will be reclassified based on their geographical location in order to optimize the zones and their respective flight reward value based on the current market.
Refer to the Travel Zone Chart.

With the choice between two flight reward options - Fixed Mileage Flight Rewards (formerly called ClassicFlight Rewards) and Market Fare Flight Rewards-Aeroplan Members get access to any seat, at any time, on all Air Canada flights. In 2014, members required fewer miles to travel than they would have with any other loyalty program in Canada.

Modified General Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy
Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy will be modified for additional clarity. See the highlighted updates in the Aeroplan Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

1. Flight Rewards are subject to availability at time of booking.
2. Based on a comparison of 2014 Aeroplan Flight Reward bookings against actual market base fares and other leading financial institutions' proprietary travel rewards programs' terms and conditions.

New flight routing to reduce delays and improve reliability efforts
In ongoing efforts to improve reliability and enhance our ability to recover from irregular operations, this winter we will double our scheduled "out and back" flying to and from our hubs. Simplifying how we move our mainline aircraft around the network will minimize the severity of downline impacts from delays and cancellations, limiting the ripple effect to one route at a time. In addition, our aircraft can be kept closer to maintenance resources and spares.

Upcoming changes for baggage and advance seat selection fees
Effective November 3, 2015, WestJet is increasing fees on checked baggage and advance seat selection in the exit row. The new rates apply to bookings made from November 3, 2015 onward for travel on or after January 6, 2016. Bookings made prior to November 3, 2015 are not affected.

WestJet is increasing fees in an effort to keep fares low. Increasing ancillary revenue allows us to avoid many of the fare increases adopted by our competitors and it allows our guests the opportunity to purchase only those products or services they want.

Baggage fees
For baggage fees, these changes will be for guests that book on or after November 3, 2015, for travel on or after January 6, 2016. First bag fees will now apply to guests travelling to Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and Europe, as well as guests travelling on domestic and transborder routes. Guests who purchase a WestJet Vacations package or make a group booking to Mexico, Caribbean, Central America or Europe will continue to be able to check a first bag at no charge.
