Tag. You're it.
The Porter tag on your carry-on bag means you're it! You're ready to board your flight, with a carry-on bag that meets our generous carry-on size. In fact, the most generous size in Canada at 22" x 9 "x 16". That's in addition to your one personal item such as a purse, briefcase or small backpack.

We now tag all carry-on bags. This makes sure that everyone keeps to that same generous size. It seems that some people are carrying their carry-on just a bit too far. Which puts the space squeeze on all of us, and those bags don't meet our regulatory size requirements.

If your bag is too big, it will be checked. And yes, there is a checked-bag fee of $35 for this. So it will still get to your destination along with you, but in the baggage hold below deck.

In order to keep yourself on schedule, without any baggage hiccups, please make sure that your carry-on bag is smaller than the maximum size. If your bag is over-size, you can save money by paying $25 for your checked bag in advance. This is cheaper than paying $35 to check that same bag when you get to the airport and it is found to be oversize.

We look forward to seeing you (and your carry-on) onboard tomorrow.

Carry-On Baggage Update
It seems that some of our passengers are carrying their carry-on bags just a bit too far. When those bags are too large, it puts the space squeeze on all of us, and those oversized bags don’t meet our regulatory size requirements.

Porter offers the most generous carry-on bag size in Canada:

Porter Airlines

22 x 9 x 16

Air Canada

21.5 x 9 x 15.5

West Jet

21 x 9 x 15

Sunwing

20 x 9 x 16

Air Transat

20 x 9 x 16

We now tag all carry-on bags. To ensure that all carry-on bags meet our generous size, as of Friday, August 28, Porter now tags all carry-on bags. This excludes personal items, such as a purse or briefcase. The carry-on tag tells our airport team members and crew that the carry-on bag is an approved size, preventing our passengers from being stopped multiple times in the airport and again as they board the aircraft.

To keep our passengers on schedule, without any baggage hiccups, we encourage them to make sure their carry-on bag is smaller than the maximum size. If the bag is larger, they can save money by paying $25 for the checked bag during advance online check-in. This is cheaper than paying $35 to check that same bag at the airport when it’s found to be oversized.

We look forward to seeing our passengers, and their carry-on bag, again soon.

Kenya: Implementation of new e-Visa/No more visa upon arrival after Sep 1, 2015

We would like to inform you about the new immigration rules for foreigners entering Kenya. From September 1, 2015 on, it is no longer possible to apply for a manual visa at airports in Kenya, according to the Directorate of Immigration and Registration of Persons.

Previous, foreigners coming to Kenya were given visas upon arrival at airports but under the new rules the visa application process will take about 7 days and is subject to the rules of the Immigration Department.

What do these regulations mean to you: Travelers will be required to have a Visa prior to boarding a flight to Kenyan soil. Please check the following website: www.eVisa.go.ke If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us 24/7 via: • www.twitter/klmwww.facebook.com/klmwww.linkedin.klmwww.klm.com/mytrip

Alternatively, you may contact your travel agent/point of purchase.

Our focus on operations yields results

Unusually adverse weather in our hubs in June and July posed a challenging start to the summer. Year to date however, our operation has improved significantly with 24,000 fewer flight cancellations during the first half of the year than the same period in 2014, despite the comparatively worse weather. In New York alone, we canceled a lower percentage of flights from the three major area airports than our competitors. We also improved our system-wide on-time performance by nearly four points during the same period.

Movies, TV and entertainment options on even more aircraft

United has one of the largest offerings of free streaming entertainment - with hundreds of television shows and movies, including popular HBO and Showtime content, available directly to travelers' laptops, iOS and Android mobile devices. Last month, we completed the installation of Personal Device Entertainment (PDE) on 120 Wi-Fi-equipped E170, E175 and CRJ700 regional jets. Learn more

Giving travelers more personal power

While providing travelers more access to personal device entertainment, we are also aggressively installing in seat power outlets - so devices can remain charged for their entire flight. Currently close to 300 of United's aircraft offer power ports, with all international aircraft to receive power by 2016. Upon project completion, over 700 aircraft will have in seat power onboard*. See more installation details here
* Some aircraft to have power in exit-row forward only

Agency tips of the month: Ticket Status

Did you know you can check the status of a ticket online at our United Travel Agency Information Center? All it takes is four simple steps to retrieve a United ticket status, whether it be flown, not flown, refunded or exchanged. Agencies can also check the form of payment details that were used to purchase the ticket. See how easy it is

Travel advice to share with your customer

Encourage your customers to travel with a copy of their ticket numbers, in addition to their itinerary record locator, particularly for itineraries with codeshares. Airports can sometimes encounter validation issues with Other Airline (OA) segment e-tickets and confirming reservations. When the customer has their ticket number, airports can easily retrieve their OA itinerary and if travel plans change, work with a plating carrier to "push and pull e-ticket control" where needed.
